Community Relations

OAK has a long and distinguished history of community involvement. Its educational outreach activities are numerous and particularly noteworthy. Activities include:

• Sponsoring annual math challenges
• Sponsoring regional science bowls
• Adoption of several local schools and provides tutors, mentors, and teacher assistance.
• Donates surplus computers and furniture to various schools
• Assists schools in developing math and science programs
• Sponsors students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities in cooperative developmental energy/dual degree program.
• Originated DOE Day, which serves as a science fair for local community
• Supports Secretary of Energy's Initiative on Community Service
• Participates in Junior Achievement Program
