Community Relations
OAK has a long and distinguished history of community involvement. Its educational outreach activities are numerous and particularly noteworthy. Activities include:
- Sponsoring annual math challenges
- Sponsoring regional science bowls
- Adoption of several local schools and provides tutors, mentors, and teacher assistance.
- Donates surplus computers and furniture to various schools
- Assists schools in developing math and science programs
- Sponsors students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities in cooperative developmental energy/dual degree program.
- Originated DOE Day, which serves as a science fair for local community
- Supports Secretary of Energy's Initiative on Community Service
- Participates in Junior Achievement Program
